FX CFD Trading

An intermediate course on how currency CFDs are priced, how interest rates and central banks move exchange rates, and how to execute across the trading sessions.

24-hour trading sessions: Asia, London and New York A 24-hour GMT timeline with three session bars. Asia runs from 00:00 to 09:00, London from 08:00 to 17:00 and New York from 13:00 to 22:00. A highlighted column marks 13:00 to 17:00, when London and New York are both open, the most participants are active and liquidity is deepest. 24-HOUR TRADING SESSIONS BOTH SESSIONS OPEN ASIA LONDON NEW YORK 00:00 24:00 GMT MOST PARTICIPANTS
When two sessions are open at once, more participants are matching orders, so the overlap has the deepest liquidity. Times are shown in GMT.

What this course covers

You trade currency pairs through CFDs. But where does the price you are filled at come from, what does a trade cost you beyond the spread, and how do central bank interest rates feed into exchange rates? This course starts from how relative exchange rates are priced and the macro forces behind them, and works through to executing trades in live conditions.

Who this course is for

A good fit if

  • You already trade FX through CFDs and want a structured understanding of the product, the macro backdrop and how price behaves in each session.
  • You are comfortable with orders, margin and leverage, and ready for intermediate-level material.
